Why give

Give where you can see it land.

EEF publishes every scholarship it awards, with the year, the scholarship, and the graduate’s name. Your gift goes into that record.

  • About $80,000

    Awarded each year

25–35 graduating seniors receive an EEF scholarship each year, in awards from $1,000 to $10,000.

  • 813

    Scholarships since 1994

The public archive lists every one with its year, its scholarship, and the graduate who received it.

    See every recipient
  • 46

    Named scholarships

Each carries the name of a family, a business, a club, or someone Esko remembers.

Every board member is an unpaid volunteer from the Esko community. They raise the money, review the applications, and keep the Foundation running.

More ways to give

Start with the path that feels right.

There is more than one way to send a graduate forward. Before you start a transfer, ask us to confirm the current instructions.

Multiply your gift

  • Ask your employer to match your gift

Many employers match what their employees give to schools and charities. Look for a matching-gift program in your benefits portal or ask HR, then name the Esko Educational Foundation as the recipient. EEF's EIN is 41-1789095.

    Ask about a matching gift
  • Turn volunteer hours into a grant

Some employers give a grant to the charity where an employee volunteers. EEF is run entirely by volunteers, from the 5K to scholarship review, so your hours can count twice.

    Ask about volunteering
  • Give through payroll or a workplace campaign

If your workplace offers payroll giving or runs a United Way campaign, you can usually designate the Esko Educational Foundation by name.

    Ask about workplace giving

Give in someone's name

  • Give in memory or in honor of someone

Name a person with your gift, whether a graduate, a teacher, a coach, or someone Esko misses. EEF sends a note to the honoree or their family so they know you remembered them. Add the name to your check memo, or email us after an online gift.

    Plan a tribute gift
  • Give to a named scholarship, or start one

A gift of any amount can go to one of EEF's named scholarships; name it on your check memo or tell us by email. A new named scholarship starts at $1,000. A smaller gift toward a new name goes into EEF's scholarships for graduating seniors.

Give from investments, a fund, or your will

  • Give appreciated securities

Request current transfer instructions from EEF before you or your broker initiates a stock gift.

    Ask for transfer instructions
  • Ask about an IRA qualified charitable distribution

Start the conversation with EEF, then confirm your eligibility and the tax treatment with your adviser and IRA custodian before initiating a transfer.

  • Recommend a grant from a donor-advised fund

If you give through a donor-advised fund, recommend a grant to Esko Educational Foundation, PO Box 27, Esko, MN 55733. EEF's EIN is 41-1789095.

    Ask about a fund grant
  • Include EEF in your will or as a beneficiary

Name the Esko Educational Foundation in your will or trust, or as a beneficiary of a retirement account or life insurance policy. Work out the wording with your attorney or adviser, and tell us if you would like EEF to know.

Businesses and neighbors

  • Give as a business or sponsor the 5K

Esko businesses already carry named scholarships. A business can give directly, start a named scholarship at $1,000, or sponsor the Foundation's annual 5K.

    See the 5K
  • Give your time or your story

Volunteer at the 5K, or help the board with an event. If you received an EEF scholarship, tell us what it made possible; your story helps the next donor see where a gift lands.

    Get in touch

Before a transfer

Confirm the details with the right people.

For stock gifts, request EEF’s current transfer instructions before you or your broker initiates a transfer. For a donor-advised fund grant or a gift in your will, your fund sponsor or attorney will need EEF’s legal name, mailing address, and EIN.

For an IRA qualified charitable distribution, ask EEF about the intended gift, review the IRS guidance, and confirm eligibility and tax treatment with your adviser and IRA custodian. Confirm EEF can receive the intended transfer before it is initiated.
